Industrial X-ray inspection / CT material testing

CT inspection for shrinkage cavities, porosity and hidden component defects.

Our state-of-the-art CT systems offer unrivalled insight into complex internal and external component structures, ideal for industries such as automotive, aviation, medical technology and electronics. Increase your production quality through detailed defect analysis and improve your manufacturing processes with our leading technology, which guarantees efficiency and reliability.

Do you have a specific requirement?Tell us what you need – we will get back to you within 24 hours and advise you in detail on possible solutions and suitable methods.

µm

CT resolution down to the micrometre range — depending on part size, material and inspection requirements.

100%

Non-destructive testing of internal structures, without cutting open or damaging the part.

24h

Fast feedback, a clear assessment and short turnaround times for your CT inspection.

Inside

Make shrinkage cavities, porosity, inclusions, cracks, wall thicknesses and hidden geometries visible.

What can CT detect?

Industrial computed tomography makes internal structures and hidden defects visible without destroying the part.

  • Shrinkage cavities and voids in the material
  • Porosity and material inclusions
  • Cracks, flaws and internal defects
  • Wall thicknesses and hidden geometries
  • Internal contours, channels and undercuts

Computed tomography analyses

With our CT, the following inspections & analyses can be carried out:

Microstructure analysis

High-resolution X-ray microscopy enables detailed 3D structural characterisation and provides insight into material properties.

4D analysis

Examines material behaviour under environmental influences and over time by means of dynamic 4D analyses.

Roughness analysis

The surface roughness of both external and internal structures can be determined precisely.

Fibre composite analysis

Enables visualisation of the 3D distribution and orientation of components in fibre composite materials.

Grain size and distribution analysis

Examines grain size and distribution to assess the hardness and strength of components.

You receive not just raw data but an easy-to-understand evaluation of your parts, including a technical assessment.

  • CT scan of your part
  • Analysis of the relevant features and anomalies
  • Images and volume model for visual documentation
  • Inspection report with traceable results
  • Recommended action for approval, rework or further inspection

When is material testing with computed tomography worthwhile?

CT inspection is worthwhile whenever conventional measurement or visual inspection is not enough because the relevant information lies inside the part.

  • First article inspection and production launch
  • Complaints and failure analysis
  • Part approval and proof of quality
  • Failure analysis where the cause of a defect is unclear
  • Series inspection and sample checks

Technical sales at Scankraft GmbH

More than a decade of experience in metrology, industrial surveying, laser scanning and more.

We have measured and digitised a wide range of objects – components, entire machines, plants, power stations, people, buildings and industrial facilities with all kinds of surface textures & materials. We would be glad to help you with your project, too!

Frequently asked questions

If our FAQ does not answer your question, simply send us an inquiry, an e-mail or give us a call – we are happy to help.

What do I receive after a CT scan?

You receive:

3D volume data (e.g. as *.vol or *.raw)

Surface mesh (STL) for further processing

CAD reconstruction (optional)

Analysis reports (wall thicknesses, porosity etc.)

How accurate is a CT scan?

Our CT scans achieve resolutions of up to 5 micrometres – that is finer than a hair. Ideal for delicate or high-precision parts. The accuracy depends on the object, its density and its orientation – we get the most out of it.

How much does a CT scan cost at Scankraft?

CT scans start at approx. €590 for simple parts. Price factors include:

Size & material

Required output (e.g. data only or including analysis)

Number of parts

We are happy to prepare an individual quote – transparent & fair.

How is sensitive data handled?

We treat our customers' data as strictly confidential – all data is hosted locally on our own backed-up systems (not in the cloud).

For data transfer, just tell us the method you prefer (e.g. your company's own cloud solution).

We are of course happy to sign an NDA if you wish.
